I was interested to find your site, I am in Yorkshire,England. My interests are really more Scottish, coming from a long line of Scotsmen called James Mortimer ( as was my father and as is my eldest son) What is your connection?...

Nice job. My father, born in 1919, is Burton Mortimer from Danbury Conn. His mother was Grace Henderson and father was William. Being the only child, he doesn't have many relatives. Anyone with info in regards to Mortimers in Conneticut, I would appre iate an e-mail. thanks

Sheryl, You have done a terrific job on the Mortimer family history. It is evident that you have devoted a lot of time and effort into the work. If you have any pictures of my parents (Jerome and Annabelle) I would love very much to see them. We never had many pictures taken and would I truly enjoy seeing any that may have been taken. Thanks! Jerry

You have done a wonderful job, I know it must have taken lots of time and effort. I have my roots through James Mortimer who was born in 1842 in Swindon, Wiltshire, England. We have this history as far back as the 1600's with a Richard Mortimer whose wi e was Catherine Green. It was nice to have been able to view all you work. Elaine

It was great to see the fine job you have done. Im first generation Australian with my family roots being in the midlands England. My great grandfather worked at Balmoral castle as a game warden. Many of his nine sons and daughters became nuns and prie ts. One becoming monsigor of Edinburogh. There seems to be a strong Scottish link as well. im afraid i do not know to much about our history, but will know endeavour to find out now. Thanks for the informative site. I enjoyed your website. I do have a question...Is there apoem entitled "The History of Reedsburg and the Upper Baraboo Valley" (1929) by Merton Edwin King? I understand from a another family researcher that an ancestor of ours, Charles Fosdick, and three f his brothers, are mentioned in it. I'd love to see a copy. thanks!

I've had a very pleasant half hour perusing your pages, imagining the lives of my distant relatives. I was born in Broughton Gifford and married in Broughton Gifford Baptist Chapel in August 1972. My grandmother on my father's side was Evelyn Mortimer and my maternal grandfather was Samuel Stephen Gerrish. Having read 'Gilbert's Journey' with my mother, Mary Ellen Simpson, nee Gerrish) she thinks she was probably the lady who gave Gilbert the poor directions to Church Green! She worked part-time in the shop at about that time. The lady on the bike was proba ly my Great Aunt Win (married to an invalid Ernest Mortimer and Evelyn's sister-in-law). With best wishes

My mother's maiden name was Caroline Elizabeth Mortimer. Her brothers' names were: Albert, Harold, Lewis, James & Horace. They all lived in Philadelphia, Pa. They were all born in the late 1800's to the early 1900's. My maternal grandmother's name was Barrington (I believe).
