Will of William Mortimer


This will, filed in the Recorder's Office at Trowbridge, was proved at Bradford, Wiltshire, on 9 March 1827 before the Rev. H. Jones(?) MA lawful Surrogate of the Reverend and worshipful Charles Daubney, Clerk of the Archdeaconry of Sarum.

In the name of God Amen I William Mortimer of Broughton Gifford in the County of Wilts Weaver make this my last Will and Testament as follows First I give devise and bequeath unto my Son Michal Mortimer All that my messuage or Tenement Garden and Premises situate lying and being at Broughton Gifford aforesaid and now in my own Occupation. To hold the same with the appurtanences unto my said Son Michael Mortimer for and during the Term of his natural Life and from and after his decease I give devise and bequeath the same messuage or Tenement Garden and Premises unto my grandson Jacob Mortimer Son of my said Son Michael Mortimer To hold the same with the appurtenances unto the said Jacob Mortimer his Executors Administrators and Assigns for all the Term Estate and Interest then to come therein Also I give my clock to my Grandson the said Jacob Mortimer And also all other my Household Goods and Chattels I give unto my Said Son Michal Mortimer for his own Use and Benefit Also I give my Silver Shoe Buckles to my Son Samuel Mortimer All the rest residue and remainder of my monies Securities for Money and other my Estate and Effects I give and bequeath unto my five Children John Mortimer Samuel Mortimer Betty Keene William Mortimer and George Mortimer Equally between them Share and Share alike But I direct that my said Daughter Betty Keene shall be paid the Interest only on her Share during her Life and after her decease I give the Principal Money unto my said other Children John Samuel William and George Mortimer equally Between them Share and Share alike Subject to the Payment of my just Debts funeral Expenses and the Expense of Proving this my Will And also I constitute and appoint my said Son Michael Mortimer Executor of this my Will In Witness whereof I the said William Mortimer have hereunto set my Hand and Seal the Sixth day of October One Thousand Eight hundred and twenty three.
