SMITH: OBITUARY OF EDNA SMITH BURGESS

Edna Burgess, 82, passed away at the Reedsburg municipal hospital, June 26. She was born Dec. 2, 1883 in LaValle township to Jonathan and Mary Smith. Her marriage to John Burgess took place on January 15, 1907. Four children were born to this union, Kenneth and Merlin of Reedsburg, (Dorotha) Mrs. Harry Janechek of Wonewoc, and (Maurine) Mrs. John Wilms of Avalon.

Survivors are her children; 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Decot and Mrs. Earnest Seeley, LaValle; and Mrs. Clema Crownover of Edgerton, Wy; and one brother, Ernest Smith of Klamath Falls, Ore.

Mrs. Burgess was preceded in death by her husband and one sister.

She lived in the LaValle and Ironton area nearly all of her life. She was baptized in the Seventh Day Adventist church.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 29, in the Hammer funeral home in Reedsburg with Rev. Kenneth Waggoner of the Advent Christian church officiating. She was buried at the Resting Green Cemetery at Ironton.

Delores Nash sang. Pallbearers were Hugh Brown, Henry Johnson, Philip, Morris, and Clinton Decot and Irvin Johnson.
