Wonewoc Reproter, June 4: John Mortimer died at his home on Section 20 in the Town of Woodland, Tuesday, May 26, at the age of 63 years, 2 months and 5 days. He was born in Lincolnshire, England, (incorrect-see birth place) and came to America in 1849, stopping at Oconomowoc, Wis., till the year 1854, when he came to this town and settled on the farm he now owns, being a resident of this town 37 years. January 2, 1858, he united in marriage to Miss Phoebe A. Smith, who still lives to morn his loss. While he leaves a score of relatives to morn his loss, there is a host of friends and neighbors who will keenly miss this upright and honest citizen, always ready to help in time of need those less fortunate than he in the battle of life.
