VETERAN DANCY RESIDENT

Geo. Topham, Sr. An Esteem Citizen, Dies Very Suddenly Last Saturday Evening.

George Topham, Sr., who was a resident of Dancy, Marathon county, for over 35 years, died last Saturday night from heart failure. Mr. Topham was around attending to his work all day Saturday, but shortly after retiring Mrs. Topham noticed his heavy breathing. Before she could summon assistance he had passed away.

Mr. Topham was born in Nottingham, England, Sept. 11, 1842, and was therefore in his 67th year at the time of his death. On March 14, 1870, he was married to Sarah A. Phillips in Sheffield, England, and shortly afterwards came to America. Of this union four children were born. The survivors are Edward and George of Dancy, Edward being a leading bussiness man of that place, and Herbert of Seeman, Ontario, Canada. A little daughter died some years ago.

Mr. Topham was one of the old settlers in this part of the country, always industrious and a very generous hearted neighbor and kind husband and father. In time of sickness one would receive a call from him and his thoughtfulness along this line was known for miles around.

The funeral was held from the M. E. Church at Dancy this Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock, Rev. C. H. Jacquith of Mosinee officiating, with interment in Knowlton Cemetery. The sympathy of the community goes out to the sorrowing widow and children in their sad bereavement.
