Henry Jenkins was born in Burton Overy Lestershear, England, on April, 24, 1835 and died at his home in Mifflin, Wis., Jan. 26, 1920, aged 84 years, 9 months and 2 days.

When but a young man, in the year of 1855 he came from England to Canada where he lived for two years. He moved from Canada to Grant County, Wis. After a stay of one year he again moved, locating in Iowa county, near Mifflin, Wis. He has lived in or near Mifflin since 1858.

He was united in marriage with Pricilla Warne in the year of 1857. To this union twelve children were born as follows: David, Mrs. Thos. Wilkinson, Mrs. John Burton, Mrs. Robert Johnson, Mrs. Thomas Wilkinson Jr., Miss Annie, Robert and Thomas, all of Mifflin; Mrs. Fannie Twaites of Dubque, Ia., Mrs. Minnie Stacey of Beloit, Wis., Mrs. Orville Wonn of Plattville, Wis., and William of Sioux Falls, South Dakata. One daughter, Mrs. John Burton and one son, David preceded the father in death. The mother fell asleep in the glorious hope of the resurection in the year 1904. Since the death of the mother, Annie had lived with her father, tenderly caring for him in his declining years.

The deceased throught many years of association with his fellowmen, became well known in his community and shall be greatly missed by many. The emeny, death, has once more entered our ranks. We again mourn the loss of not only an affectionate grandfather, a loving father, but also a kind neighbor and friend.

For about four years the deceased has been failing in health during which time he suffered a great deal-death coming as a relief to a weary body.

Three years ago while the writer was visiting with the deceased in his home he made profession of faith in the Lord Jesus. Since that time he has lived a consistent Christian life. He often prayed and enjoyed much listening to the reading of the Bible.
