MORTIMER: Obituary MATILDA JACKSON

Matilda Mortimer, daughter of James and Melinda Holderman Mortimer, was born in the town of Woodland on Jan. 9, 1883. She passed away at the Reedsburg hospital on Feb. 1, 1956, following an illness of three days, at the age of 73 years and 23 days.

She was married to Albert Jackson Feb. 27, 1901. Two sons and two daughters were born to this union.

She is survived by her sons and two daughters – Arland and wife Mabel, LaValle; Gail and wife Clarice, Valton; Thelma, at home; Wilma and husband Robert Huntley, of Grantburg. By her eight grandchildren, Leota Jackson White and James Jackson; Nick, Rona Lee, Kim and Jackson Huntley; and Alan and Kathleen Jackson. By her one great grandchild, Randy White. Two sisters, Alice McKinsey, Wonewoc, and Tressie Leatherberry, Lodi, and one brother, Glenn Mortimer, Valton, also survive.

Her husband preceded her in death by 14 months. She had been a member of the Valton Friends church for 48 years.

Funeral services were held at the Valton Friends church on Sunday with Rev. Henderson and Eastman of the Friends church and Rev. Poe of the Wesleyan Methodist church officiating.

Pallbearers were Isador Miller, Archie Shore, Ronald Mortimer, Leo Thompson, Elvie Lampke, and Vern Beier. Interment was in the Valton cemetery.
